Gregory J. Long, Director of Golf

Greg started his PGA career on May 5th, 1985 at the Hunt Valley C.C. , a 27 hole private course in Maryland. He received his Class A PGA membership in April of 1989.  He then spent the next twelve years as a Head Professional at three different courses.  He moved to Florida in December of 2000.  Upon arriving in Florida he worked at the Fiddlesticks C.C. in Ft. Myers for nine months, then took the job as Director of Golf at the Lakewood C.C. in Naples.  After 5 years at Lakewood, he moved to North Carolina to become the Director of Golf at the White Oak Plantation, which was a new high end private facility which was being built.  This course ran into financial troubles and never opened.  Greg then moved back to Florida in November of 2006.  He spent 14 months as an assistant Pro at the Countryside C.C. and then came to Royal Wood C.C. on Feb. 13th, 2008.  He has spent 11 years as the first assistant at Royal Wood until becoming the Director of Golf on May 1st, 2019.  Greg was elected to the PGA of America’s Quarter Century Club in April of 2014.  Currently, with 31 years as a Class A member of the PGA of America, he has attained a status of a life long member of the PGA of America.



Brian Macoy, Golf Professional

Brian grew up in Lineville, Alabama and started playing golf at the age of 9.  He graduated from Lineville High School in 1994.  He then attended Gadsden State College on a golf Scholarship where he played for two years.  He also earned a degree in Golf course Operation and management at the Golf Academy in Orlando, Fl., where he learned advance teaching and business under PGA Master Professionals. Brian has worked in the golf industry for over 20 years.  He was also fortunate enough to intern as an assistant for the President of of the PGA of America in Indiana.  Brian made his way down to Southwest Florida in 2010. Since being in Florida he has worked at the Plantation Golf & C.C. , Gateway Golf & C.C. , West Bay, and Herons Glen.  He is now in level 1 of the PGA program and is working toward having his Class A status within the next few years.  His goal is to build lasting relationships, and make Royal Wood feel like home for all of its members and their guests.  
  


Isaac Schaefer, Golf Professional

Isaac attended Florida Gulf Coast University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in PGA Golf Management.  This four and a half year program consisted of completing all PGA requirements and University requirements.  This included sixteen
months of internships at local clubs, such as Pelican Sound Golf & River Club, Hunters Green Golf & C.C. (Tampa), and Esplanade Golf & C.C. of Naples.  Upon graduation in December of 2015, Isaac was elected and received his Class A PGA
membership.  He then worked as the 1st assistant Golf Professional at River Hall C.C. in Ft. Myers.  Now, as of June 2019, he has joined the professional staff here at Royal Wood Golf & C.C. and looks forward to his time here.
